Deep inelastic scattering and final state interaction in an exactly solvable relativistic model

چکیده
In the theory of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) the final state interaction (FSI) between the struck quark and the remnants of the target is usually assumed to be negligible in the Bjorken limit. This assumption, still awaiting a full validation within nonperturbative QCD, is investigated in a model composed by two relativistic particles, interacting via a relativistic harmonic oscillator potential, within light-cone hamilto-nian dynamics. An electromagnetic current operator whose matrix elements behave properly under Poincaré transformations is adopted. It is shown that: i) the parton model is recovered, once the standard parton model assumptions are adopted; and ii) when relativistic, interacting eigenfunctions are exactly taken into account for both the initial and final states, the values of the structure functions, averaged over small, but finite intervals of the Bjorken variable x, coincide with the results of the parton model in the Bjorken limit.

Relativistic View on the Nuclear Effects in the Deep Inelastic Scattering on Deutron
We analyze nuclear effects in the deep inelastic scattering on deuteron in the framework of the covariant approach. It is shown that this approach gives us the way to investigate the role of relativistic effects in the deep inelastic scattering (DIS) on deuteron, such as the relativistic kinematics and the off-mass-shell behavior of the Compton amplitude of nucleon in the consistent manner. We ...

We investigate hadron formation in deep inelastic lepton scattering on N , Kr and Xe nuclei in the kinematic regime of the HERMES experiment. The elementary electron-nucleon interaction is described within the event generator PYTHIA while a full coupled-channel treatment of the final state interactions is included by means of a BUU transport model. We find a good agreement with the measured cha...
متن کاملSpacelike and timelike response of confined relativistic particles
Basic theoretical issues relating to the response of confined relativistic particles are considered including the scaling of the response in spacelike and timelike regions of momentum transfer and the role of final state interactions. A simple single particle potential model incorporating relativity and linear confinement is solved exactly and its response is calculated. The response is studied...
متن کاملNovel QCD Effects from Initial and Final State Interactions
Initial-state and final-state interactions which are conventionally neglected in the parton model, have a profound effect in QCD hard-scattering reactions. The effects, which arise from gluon exchange between the active and spectator quarks, cause leading-twist single-spin asymmetries, diffractive deep inelastic scattering, diffractive hard hadronic reactions, and the breakdown of the Lam-Tung ...

We present the results of our calculation which has been performed to study the nuclear effects in the quasielastic, inelastic and deep inelastic scattering of neutrinos(antineutrinos) from nuclear targets. These calculations are done in the local density approximation. We take into account the effect of Pauli blocking, Fermi motion, Coulomb effect, renormalization of weak transition strengths ...
